Simpson Bay - that's the same name of the village and the largest lagoon on the island. The lagoon has direct access to the sea and several, against wind and waves protected harbors offer nearly ideal conditions for anchorages.
Since the widening of the bridge, a few years ago, also Mega Yachts can pass the bridge. That and several daily flights to Europe and North America has contributed to the fact that the Simpson bay lagoon area, near
Juliana International Airport, has become over time an important Caribbean Yachting-Center with an appropriate infrastructure for the booming charter yacht business.
In
Simpson Bay you find more marinas (
Bobby’s Marina,
Palapa Marina, Simpson Bay Marina,
Simpson Bay Yacht Club,
Yacht Club at Isle de Sol’s) and marine related businesses and services
(see heer) than in any other part of the island.
