Tijuana Yacht Club, located in the building where Matilda's and back in the day "News" used to be, doesn't have a boatyard or a yacht facility at all. This, just like the rest of the name, is supposed to be part of the fun. "At Tijuana it's about cheap food and good booze," says owner Jimmy.

The logo of this fresh new restaurant states, "Always a Fiesta!" and the menu's heading reads "Senor Bernies," as the owner of Bamboo Bernies and Bamboo Bernies boardwalk is now also the proud owner of Tijuana Yacht Club. You won't recognize the inside of the building, as there's been quite an investment in party-lights in the shape of chilly peppers, Mexican hats and a cartoonist who's drawn many of St. Maarten's high-profilers on the walls of the restaurant.

As you might remember, it could get pretty hot in the building so an extra set of fans and air conditioners has been installed for your comfort. The Mexican-born chef cooks up anything Tex Mex; name it and it's on the menu. He compiled the whole menu and you'll love it! Order fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, tacos or quesadillas. For the regular ol' appetite there are salads, chicken, meat and fish on the menu as well.

The restaurant part is nice and all, but what we really don't want to leave out is the bar part of this endeavor, with authentic Margaritas and Sangria and even the not so authentic Sangrita, a mix of the two mentioned above. The party goes wild and the house comes down with 45 whopping types of tequila served in Tijuana. Get a tequila-flight and taste four different shots for a good price.

The bar wants to make sure the party gets going, so come over on Monday nights to play Bingo for booze. On Friday's there's the Mariachi happy hour which means 2-4-1 on the Margaritas and Sangria and free tacos, tostados and enchiladas. Of course every night of the week is a fun night at Tijuana Yacht club. And if you drink the worm out of the Mescal bottle, you'll receive a shirt on Senor Bernies.
