Terres Basses is a quiet peninsula with a collection of the most exclusive villas on the island. But you'll little see of the land and its inhabitants. Everything is well shielded from the outside world and prying paparazzi behind thick walls and remote controlled gates. There are no restaurants or shops. However, some of the villas are to rent by their owners.
The traffic leading into the residential quarters is blocked on the evening, and it is necessary to identify yourself and specify where you want to go.
Over the day, the area is free for everybody and worth a visit. You can find some really beautiful natural beaches like the
Bay Rouge,
Plum Bay Beach and
Long Beach where on of the island's best hotels the
La Samanna is located.
