East of Marigot
, just beyond Baie Nettlé
, you’ll find one of the island’s most stunning stretches of coastline, facing southwest and stretching more than a mile from end to end with excellent underwater sights for snorkeling at ist western end, near David's Hole.
With beautiful sightseeing all the way, this wide, long curve of sandy beach is blissfully shallow over clean, golden sand to quite a way out, ideal for games and paddling in the pure, glittering waters. But pay attention, because the surf often kicks up in September and stays rough through November or December, making for dangerous swimming, but the entire beach is always great for strolling, golden sunset views and shell collecting.
This beach is very popular with the guests of the nearby Le Samanna
. Road signs lead to Baie Longue, Baie Rouge
and Baie aux Prunes
; park on the unmarked sandy pull-offs and follow the footpaths between fences.
